"Good luck with that" I told her, moving away from the pan as I let it cook. "Who could be better than him?" Emmie asked.

Clark
"You arse", I bumped Markus with my hip. "Well, definitely not you, you're nowhere near him." Although, if I considered it...

Markus
"You're just rude. I have you know I would be perfect husband material. The first dance at the wedding would be the best ever witnessed" I replied, before cursing as the pasta boiled over, I returned my attention to that as Emmie's face lit up. "Dad could be your husband! He doesn't have a wife"

Clark
"Sweetie, it's not how it works. I, for one, want to marry someone who is not egoistic and vain. For all that I already have myself", I sat on the counter near Markus. "Isn't that right, Markus?" I asked and swung my feet.

Markus
"I call bullsh..!" I stopped myself before I swore, "No sitting on the worktop, Madam." I pointed at her with my wooden spoon, "You'll probably just marry yourself"

Clark
"What, you're not currently using it", I used my best charming smile at him. "Marrying myself sounds plausible, but impossible, unfortunately. Shame shame."

Markus
Muttering what sounded a lot like 'bitch' under my breath, I went back to my pasta. "Can I marry you?" Emmie asked, I don't think she has this marriage thing worked out fully yet, bless her.

Clark
"No, sweetheart, but I'm fine on my own. I don't need men. Nobody needs men." I glanced at Markus. "Bloody useless they are."

Markus
"Oh, well fine then, next time you need a dance partner I will say no because I a 'bloody useless'" I stuck my tongue out at her. Emmie just looked mildly confused as she glanced between the two of us.

Clark

"You sexist person" I complained, "When will your brother be here?" I asked, deciding a conversation about genders might not end well.

Clark
"Fifteen minutes, probably. As much as his wife Laura is a lovely person, she takes ages to get dressed", I shrugged.

Markus
"Plenty of time then. No fancy dress up from Clark today?" In truth she already looked very pretty dressed as she was, there was no need for her to get dressed up in any way.

Clark
"Oh, is that a challenge, Mr. Markus? I think of it as a challenge. Do you want me to have a fancy dress up? Because I can do it under fifteen minutes", I smirked.

Markus
I returned her smirk, "Then it shall be a challenge. I bet five pounds you won't be ready and dressed up before your brother arrives" I held my hand towards her to shake on the deal.

Clark
"Bye, you arse." I hopped off to my flat.

"Dad, what's an 'arse'? Miss Clark uses that word a lot" Emily asked as soon as Clark had left. "That doesn't matter, just don't use that word at school, okay?" I said and she nodded. I lifted her up and placed her on the worktop Clark had just vacated. "What else should we add to this?" I asked her, Emmie , despite my shitness, was pretty good at picking out flavours and constructing dishes. I don't dare let her near anything hot, not just yet.

Clark
Ten minutes. Won this one, Mr. Markus. I waited for Wesley and Laura, and once they showed up (and hugs and kisses and everything, you know how it goes), we walked over to Markus' flat and rung the bell, for extra drama.

Markus
"Oh you bitch" I exclaimed as soon as I opened the door and saw her. I pulled the fiver out of my pocket, after checking my watch, and passed it to her. It took me a second to realise that probably wasn't the best way to introduce myself to her brother and his wife. "Heh. Hi, I am Markus" I stepped aside so they could come inside.

Clark
I winked at him. "Sorry. Rude introduction. Wesley, Laura, this is my friend, Markus, with whom I had a bet that I couldn't get dressed in fifteen minutes. Which I did. In ten." Wesley smiled, but just a bit. He wasn't really comfortable around new people, bless him. But Laura, on the other side, flashed a big, bright smile at Markus. "Nice to meet you. I'm glad that Cal is not alone in this building. She doesn't like when she's alone." "Shush, Laura." "But, honey, you don't."

Markus
I gave them both a wave and a smile in return, "Dad" "Coming. We're just finishing dinner off, the last finishing touches. Make yourselves at home." I said, quickly skipping back over to the kitchen, Clark certainly won that bet and a half. Very pretty when she's not dressed up, but stunning when she is, that's for sure.

Clark
"Way to go, Cal. Get a boy who has a kid", Wesley whispered in my ear and I pushed him away. "You bitch, you're just jealous." "Not jealous at all. I'm in a better position than you now", he waved his wedding ring in front of my eyes. "Wes. Stop, honey, you're embarrassing yourself", Laura pulled them both away to the sofa and I skipped to Markus and Emily. "You're a loser."

Markus
"I know. I know, leave me alone to wallow in my sadness" I complain, "Now go give this food to your family before they starve. See it turned out okay, it didn't like burn the house down." I handed her two plates, before helping Emmie off the counter and grabbing two more plates.

Clark
"C'mon. Looking this good doesn't mean you should be sad." I pressed a kiss on his cheek while I took the plates away from him. "We'll wait for you two in the living room", and I clicked away (because heels click) to Laura and Wesley and handed them the plates.
