It was the day of the Great Ball. All the girls were in their
gowns and all the boys were preparing to dazzle each and
every one of them. Except Phineas. "Hurry", he heard
his mother calling him. "You have to be ready for the
Ball! I also have heard that the Princess' cousin,
Lucille, will be there! You know we like Lucille!" Phineas
couldn't do anything but keep quiet. He did not like
Lucille, nor the Princess, nor any girl at the ball. He
didn't like anyone, when he came to think of it.
Anyone but... "I'll walk you out myself", his mother
huffed in frustration pushing him out to the Great
Hall. He also didn't like the way his suit fit him.
It made him look skinnier than he was. It made
him look like a twig. He sighed making his way towards
the Bachelor table. "I cannot believe it!" His friend
Gabriel said in a fake mocking voice."He made it!
The most unsocial person on the most social
event of the year! Oh, the joy! The celebration!"
His comments made Phineas laugh. No one could
make him laugh like his best friend could. But
sometimes, their relationship felt a bit... odd.
Sometimes when he giggled at his friend's jokes,
he had a feeling like he was the girl, and
Gabriel was the man coquetting with him. But
that didn't make any sense. Phineas wasn't a girl.
It all confused him greatly, and Gabriel saw
it in his eyes."Phin, are you alright?" he asked.
"Yes, I am, I just need some fresh air, I'm fine",
Phineas said. "What do you mean, you just got
here!" But he was already out. Maybe one day

"Mother, you know what, I'm done!" Phineas
shouted at his mum. His voice turned into a
soft squeal at the end of the sentence. He hated
disappointing her. But he didn't know better.
"I am not perfect, okay?" he said, looking up
to hold back tears. One bad grade, just one
and it could ruin his college application. "But,
Phineas, you have to understand that I am
your mother, you can tell me everything! And
you might as well tell me why did this happen?"
The truth, of course, was simpler than his mum
thought it was. He simply studied something else.
But what made him mad, was her belief in him.
When people believe in you, it puts way too much
pressure on you, and when you fail, it breaks
you. That's exactly what was happening. "Why do
you believe I'm perfect? Because I am not, I-"
he started stuttering. Damn, he didn't need that
right NOW. He took a deep breath. "Don't believe
in me." He looked into his mother's eyes and
stormed off to his room, slamming the door behind him.


"FAG!!" Phineas heard a voice coming from the
other side of the locker room. At first he refused to
acknowledge the boy was talking about him, but
when he pulled him backwards, dangerously close
to his face, Phineas made no mistake. "Excuse me,
but... who are you talking about?" he asked, his voice
revealing a slight tremble. He didn't have to fight
this guy, did he? He was tiny! It was hard to believe
this nugget of a man was trying to start a fight with
him. "I'm talking about you, you fag!" Wow, what
a vocabulary. Someone should give that man an
award. With that sentence, he pushed Phineas
backwards. Jason, that was his name. "Well,
Jason, in case you haven't heard yet, I am
in a boxing team, so if I was you, I wouldn't
really mess with myself", Phineas said, getting
more confident. In a fight, he'd win. But Jason
had the element of surprise. His hand struck Phin's
face and he stumbled backwards. Jason's technique
was miserable, at least, but don't ever underestimate
your enemy. Usually, Phineas wouldn't fight back.
But there was something in this over-confident
person that pissed him off. And without knowing,
Phineas hit him in the stomach. That wasn't even
the hardest Phineas could do, but Jason squealed
in pain. Then Phineas did what he did best. He
ran away, wiping away the blood on his cut lip.
