Don't Stop Believin' Maggy and Hazel #4

Brooklyn secured her backpack on her back, before sitting down on a seat, but after noticing a strange dampness, she stood up and walked over to a different carriage in the train. She gazed around, taking in every sight, she pulled back the door and gazed around again before leaning against a wall, not wanting to sit on a seat just in case.

Sebastian had been in another fight. Two fights, to be precise. One, with the guys who pretend to be police because he broke into their house, and two, a more verbal than physical fight with his parents. And something in him snapped. He bought the ticket for the first train on the schedule, and just took off. No things packed or anything, because he planned on getting back, one last time, before setting off to his college campus. Yes, despite everything he's been doing, he was a straight A student, and was studying to be a lawyer one day. And after college, who knows? Maybe go to his grandma's old flat, it had the best possible position, but only because his grandma inherited it from the man {her boyfriend} who was in direct contact with the Manhattan manager. The flat was looking directly at the Central Park. But none of that mattered, because if he didn't get onto his parents' good side, he wouldn't get it. He looked at the notebook and the pen on it, the only thing he had took, and sighed.

Brooklyn gazed around the compartment again, soon spotting a person stood holding a notebook, and when he sighed she wanted to ask if he was okay. But that would be a bad idea, one Brooklyn didn't trust her voice at the moment, she knew it would break, she wasn't sure where she was going. And that thought scared her a bit, also she hadn't used her voice in at least three days, and she knew more than anyone how hoarse and horrid a voice sounds after not being used for a while. Two, that would mean she would have to start a conversation, something she would hate to to. Instead of speaking she just studied him, and soon spotted his notebook. She was curious about what it was, but knew it was none of her business.

Suddenly Sebastian's phone rang, and he jumped in surprise. He took it with him? He shook his head lightly and checked it. Mom. He sighed yet again. In his home, mom was the quiet person, not like the usual, bossy moms. The bossy person was his dad, and if it was dad who was calling, he would most certainly hang up, but about mom he wasn't sure. He stared at the mobile for a few seconds until the call ended, and then he texted her. i'm sorry, it shouldn't have ended like this. He posted and leaned his head onto the back of his seat. Why was everything so hard? Why did everything have double meanings and consequences?

Brooklyn took her bag off of her back, and pulled out her notebook and a couple pencils. She put her bag back on her back, and carefully balanced her notebook on her right hand and began to sketch whatever came to her mind at the time. However, when the guy's phone rang, she jumped and drew a random line across the page. She mumbled a curse and used the rubber at the end of her pencil to rub out the line. She sighed when it was still slightly visible, but impossible to rub out any more. She flipped a page in her notebook onto a blank page, and looked out the small window, thinking of what to draw.

Sebastian glanced at the girl across him. She looked his age, and she looked... okay. Okay as in 'not a serial killer' okay. So he decided to talk to her. Hell, if we're going to leave a life behind, might as well start building a new one."Hello", he said, his deep voice ringing through the compartment. Gosh, that was so awkward. Now she'll think he's a serial killer. He cursed himself in his mind three times more before glancing at the girl, scanning her. She looked normal, even above the average, he'd say. She'd be a 7, if he was the type to care about the outside. While other people said it only to look 'humble', Seb really cared about the inside of a person. He really liked listening to people {who didn't try to kill him} and he liked listening to stories in the same way he liked writing them. A person's life story is the most beautiful and the most unique story of them all.

"Shit" Brooklyn mumbled quietly again, as the guy's voice made her jump, casing her to draw another solid black line across the page. She glanced up towards the guy, and quickly studied him, she had to admit he had a lovely voice, one you wouldn't mind to sit and listen to. Since he had spoken, she knew she had to reply, or the guy would think of her as rude. Brooklyn hated it when people got the wrong first opinion of her, as they treat her differently than if they knew her properly. "Hello" Brooklyn said but as her voice usually was it was quiet and soft, but just loud enough for him to hear over the train.

"I'm Sebastian. You?" Oh dear Lord, that sounded even worse! Sebastian hated sounding like a pedo freak who wasn't taught how to articulate his own words and who had a vocabulary of a moose. To make things even worse, he was sleep-deprived, which meant tired, dark circles under eyes, and the complete impression was probably: homeless. Oh, and not even to mention his goddamned freckles! Freckles, for goodness sake! He wasn't a 11 year old girl! Before this avalanche of insults about himself got even bigger and stronger, he shook it off. Why did he even care? To whom did he even have to look nice?

Brooklyn lowered her head slightly so she wasn't staring directly at him, and looked down at her notebook. "Brooklyn" She said simply, looking at the deep black line across her drawing. Brooklyn wasn't sure about this guy, how he made her feel slightly uncomfortable, but she wasn't sure why. He looked nice enough, and had a nice air about him. Maybe it was the fact they were alone in a carriage in a train during the night, and as an affect of being nervous, she fiddled with her pencil, twirling it round in her left hand.

"Not to sound creepy or anything, but since it's a long ride we might as well talk. Oh and by the way, writing or drawing on a train? Not a good idea", Sebastian added looking at her notebook and raised his in the air."It gets all smudgy and screwed up, I just advise you not to do it", he shrugged.

Brooklyn looked up towards him before showing him the line across her work "I think I found that out the hard way" She said, her voice still quiet and soft. She then closed the notebook and tightly held it against her chest. "Where is this train going? I never checked" She asked, still clutching her notebook tightly.

"Um. Now that's a really good question", Sebastian asked pulling his always-present wallet out. He got out a ticket out of it and read out loud. "Ohio, I believe. I can't read without my glasses", he said squinting lightly at the ticked before putting both the ticket and the wallet back into his pocket.

Brooklyn nodded lightly "Thank you" She said, with a small smile, one of the first signs of emotion that has appeared n her face. She believes your face gives away too much of what you are thinking, and letting someone into your mind is like telling them all your secrets. "So why are you travelling to Ohio?" Brooklyn asked, since he had started the conversation she might as well continue it.

"I have absolutely no idea. Though, Ohio is a good destination. You?"Sebastian asked, moving some of his hair away from his neck, since he had a nasty scar there, years old. He gained that one when he miscaculated the height of the fence and, well, tripped. That was one of the many injuries he had gotten in the past, but the first that got him into a hospital.

Brooklyn studied him for another second "I just wanted to get away" She said with a small shrug, and stretching out her legs which hurt slightly from her being stood for such a long time. She fiddled with the small keyring that hung from her notebook.

"That makes the two of us. So. Talk to me and I'll talk to you. Which college are you going to?"Sebastian asked.

Brooklyn shrugged "Just a small horrid one. I was going to apply for an Art College, but my mum thought I could do better than that" She said, her dad had said he was fine with her going to an art college, which, of course, started an argument between the two of them. And by the time her parents had stopped fighting, all the good colleges were filled. So Brooklyn had to apply for the one she is currently in, and she hates it. "How about you?" Brooklyn asked. "Where do you go?"

"U Mich. Law school", Sebastian answered, fiddling with his pen. Since he loved arguments of any kid, and loved winning most of all, he decided to go there, and with his straight As he was able to get in. And why did he have straight As, you ask? Because he was clinically depressed. And that depression was paired with paranoia, which made him study all the time he wasn't breaking in houses. Social life? He never had one of those.

Brooklyn nodded, "So you're studying law?" She asked, studying him again, and deciding she didn't want to talk much about her life, or talk in general, she just started asking about him. "Does law interest you?" She asked.

"Eh. Depends on the point of view. And art, you said? What kind?" Sebastian asked. To him, art meant drawing. Art meant music, art meant reading, sculpting, but the most important art to him was writing. He wrote to forget about his own life and to create a new one.

Brooklyn shifted her notebook in her hands slightly, "I mostly do sketching or painting" She said, twirling her pencil in her hand, but after almost dropping it twice she put it in her pocket and fiddled with the keyring hanging from her notebook instead.

Sebastian half-smirked."Are you any good?" he asked. He was sick and tired of people believing they're 'awesome' at something when in reality, they really aren't. If you're doing something, do it good or don't do it. That was one of his many life guidelines. Another one was 'don't screw this up', so the guidelines aren't all that motivational, but they keep him going.

"I s'pose so" Brooklyn said, "But it really depends on what I am drawing, I find it hard drawing items directly in front of me, but the majority of my drawings are cartooned versions of people passing by. I like exaggerating their features" She started rambling, but soon shut herself up. She never speaks this much normally, and she is unsure about why she is talking so much now, especially to a complete stranger.
